The Year That Was- 2022!

The Year That Was- 2022!

There are lot of reasons why the year 2022 was very significant. I got to travel alone on an official tour, to Mumbai; my brothers got married in lavish ceremonies; NDTV was sold off to Gautam Adani. NDTV was almost like my birthplace. So the office being bought by Adani was a rather important step.

Journalism has been very close to my heart and my being. The profession as a practice somehow defines my being and the person I like to be. A journalist always tells the right story. A journalist always performs his duty well. A journalist is a good Samaritan. A journalist searches for the truth. A journalist is sensitive with the right acquaintances, sources, speaking to people at every step and writing stories that matter.

For me, Dr. Prannoy Roy created that aura of a journalist in my eyes. My first impression of a journalist was formed when I first met him and his family. That began my journey into the field of journalism, media and politics.

Although I had left NDTV ages ago in 2009, the remnants continued to haunt me forever for the rest of my life- not because there was a history but simply because there was an emotional relationship I shared with the organisation.

My best childhood friend's parents had founded the organisation. I had heard about it and its development from a very young age. That is why as I grew up I worked there with complete ease, safety and security, something not all women working in media experience.

NDTV felt like the most creative place where I got to be my most natural self, express myself to the best, giving expression to my bestest talents and skills.

It is primarily for this reason I like this organisation- something I haven't experienced since 2009.

Freedom is a rare thing to find and when one finds freedom with an organisation, place, situation, event or a country, one begins to love that place, person, organisation, event or life situation.

This is why NDTV will always remain that place of freedom etched in my memory.

I was very sad the day I got to know Dr. and Mrs. Roy have resigned from the organisation as it passed into the hands of a new entrepreneur and businessman Gautam Adani.

I will always be grateful to God for my association with the place.
